KAWS
KAWS is one of the most influential contemporary artists bridging the worlds of street culture, design, and fine art. Rising to prominence in the 1990s with graffiti interventions and subversive alterations of advertising imagery, he has since built a multidisciplinary practice encompassing paintings, large-scale sculptures, limited edition toys, prints, and high-profile collaborations.
His signature character “Companion” and other reimagined pop culture figures have become global icons, appearing in exhibitions and public installations from New York and Paris to Tokyo and Hong Kong. His works are held by major institutions such as the Brooklyn Museum and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, and have been shown in settings as diverse as Yorkshire Sculpture Park in the UK and the Yuz Museum in Shanghai.
By merging mass appeal with fine art sensibilities, KAWS has created a unique position in today’s art market. His limited-edition pieces are highly sought after by collectors worldwide, often selling out immediately upon release and achieving significant results at auction, reflecting both his cultural impact and lasting market relevance.
